FAQs
Tell me about your hard cases?
-
Our waterproof hard cases provide top of the line protection. Our cases are stackable by design (like cases), have air pressure release valves, comfort molded handles, unique off-road style wheels on the 44" and 53" models and patented user-friendly latches. These cases ATA/TSA ready for travel and tough enough for the harshest environments. They come Berry & DFARS compliant with IP67 dust and waterproof ratings.

Why do you say your foam is "carved"?
-
Most case companies using low quality open cell foams have many layers. They will cut entirely through 1 or more layers and then stack them in the case. We use a thick slab of our specialized closed cell foam and carve it. This means that the shapes are essentially "pockets" cut into the foam without layers. The edges are solid without seams. This process is sort of like milling a cavity into a piece of steel. The result is the cleanest finish available in the case world.

How does the foam used by WC&F differ from what is generally offered?
-
Most other companies offering hard cases put low density, open celled foams in their cases. Your gear may be sandwiched between 2 layers or the foam may be "pick and pluck". These offerings are cheap, low quality and will not last under regular use. Open celled foams will rip, tear and degrade into fine particles over time. These fine particles will stick to the oils on your gun and eventually find a way into your equipment and possibly cause damage. This open cell foam also will absorb and hold moisture inside your case causing corrosion to you equipment.
-
Windfall Case & Foam uses proprietary types of closed cell foams. The core foam is generally a 3-inch-thick solid block of foam with a .25in layer of colored foam on the visible side. Your design is carved into the closed cell foam. These foams are not absorbent, are UV resistant, do not tear and a re designed to last a lifetime.

What if my gear doesn't fit?
-
During the design process, WC&F will make every effort to meet your design specifications. We will ask about critical dimensions of your gear and incorporate an offset into the design to allow for easy insertion and removal of your gear. The designs will be submitted to you with dimensions for review and approval. We will carve the foam based on your approved design. The responsibility to confirm the dimensions of the design are congruent with your gear is your responsibility and WC&F will not be responsible for errors in customer supplied information.
-
If you feel an error was made on the part of WC&F please contact info@windfallcase.com.

Is the foam removable?
-
Bottom Foam - Yes. The bottom foam can be removed. It is held in by friction tabs.
-
Lid Foam - The foam in the lid is fixed with adhesive. It may be removeable but could result in unsatisfactory results. Only remove it if it will be replaced.

What if I made a change or changes to my gear or need a different design?
-
In our online shop, you will find a foam only option. Select the size and applicable options and complete checkout as usual. The foam will be sent to you to be inserted into your case.

How do you clean the foam?
-
Our foams can be cleaned with water or a mild cleaner such as Simple Green. We recommend using a microfiber cloth and thoroughly drying the foam before reinserting your gear.

What is covered by the Lifetime Warranty?
-
Should the hinges, latches or any other component break under normal use we will provide replacement parts. Providing replacement parts is a faster alternative to you shipping the case to us for repair.
-
Photos of broken components will be required.

What is not covered under the Lifetime Warranty?
-
Under no circumstances will we be held responsible for the contents of the case.
-
Should the case break or be damaged, we will require photos be sent for review. Windfall Case & Foam reserves the sole right to determine if the damage is covered under the warranty.
